The Focus Mode Feature Zoom Prevents Students From Disturbing Each Other When Learning Online

During the pandemic, the popularity of the video conferencing application Zoom has skyrocketed. Zoom is widely used as a face-to-face tool for work to support online teaching and learning activities.

To support the needs of users, especially those who use Zoom for online learning, Zoom released a new feature called Focus Mode.

As the name implies, this feature allows users to focus more when doing face-to-face virtually through the Zoom application.

When conducting online teaching and learning activities, this feature can be activated by the host, in this case, the teacher.

When Focus Mode is enabled, the host or teacher can still see all the participants in the virtual classroom.

However, participants cannot see other participants, so it is hoped that students will focus on the material presented by the host.

"Focus Mode was designed with the digital learning environment in mind. This feature allows hosts and co-hosts to view all participant videos, without other participants seeing each other.

Besides being beneficial for the teacher, Focus Mode also makes it easier for students to see the teacher personally without being disturbed by the video display from other participants.

As a result, the students may not mind or be embarrassed if they want to turn on their own camera. Zoom says that the Focus Mode feature can be activated when making video calls with a number of accounts, groups, or individuals.

Focus Mode can be accessed via the "More" button that appears during a call. Then, the host simply chooses to enable the mode.

When Focus Mode is activated, a special alert and notification will appear at the top left. With the presence of this Focus Mode feature, students can focus on online class sessions without paying attention to various distractions that may come from other participants when face-to-face takes place.
