Skype Download for Windows 7 64-bit Free - The emergence of social restrictions and the call to work from home (WFH) have made chatting or messaging applications even more important. In addition to exchanging news with relatives and relatives, this kind of application also helps workers who have to hold meetings remotely.

One of the messaging applications that are often used for this purpose is Skype. Although not as popular as Google Hangouts and Zoom today, Skype offers a variety of interesting features that you need to know about.

Skype is a communication program owned by Microsoft that can be downloaded and used free of charge. Because it can be run on mobile phones, PCs, and Alexa, this program helps you connect with the people closest to you, both family and colleagues, anywhere and anytime.

Although free, Skype offers a variety of communication modes, from sending text messages to making voice and video calls with up to 50 participants. Microsoft offers additional features, such as calling the phone and sending short messages (SMS), for a small additional fee. Skype itself is one of the pioneers in the virtual face-to-face world.

Tips for using Skype

If you've never used Skype, there are some important tips and features you need to know to have the best virtual communication experience.

1. Setting up a Skype account

Before using Skype, you must first download the application. If you're using a desktop or laptop, open the Skype main page in the browser of your choice. Then, go to the download page and select download Skype to the appropriate operating system for your device.

On the Play Store for Android and the App Store for iOS, respectively, you can find the Skype app for mobile phones. After that, choose the option to open a new account with a phone number or email address. You can also log in using your Microsoft account, though.

2. Looking for contacts on Skype

The first time you sign in with your account, Skype gives you the option to import contacts. Skype can automatically import every contact stored in your Microsoft account.

You can also search for your acquaintances by typing their real name, Skype name, or email address into the search box on the top left side of the app page. If so, you are ready to communicate with those closest to you.

3. Send a text message on Skype

You have a variety of Skype options at your disposal for communicating with loved ones, friends, and coworkers. Of course, text messages are the initial method. To do this, choose the person you wish to contact by clicking the contact button in the application's upper left corner. In the "Type a Message" box, enter a message before clicking the arrow or pressing Enter.

4. Make calls to Skype and phone

The next type of call you can use on Skype is voice calling. Before using this feature, make sure your audio device is correct. To do this, click the three-dot icon on the top left, select Settings, then Audio & Videos. In the Speakers and Microphone section, select Default device or other available input and output options.

After selecting the person you want to call, click on the phone icon on the top right side. There will be two voice call options, namely from Skype to Skype and from Skype to telephone. You can do both of them without spending a penny. Only, the option of calling from Skype to phone is only free for 5 minutes

5. Video calls on Skype

Skype has a video call capability or video call that you can use to meet the other person in person if you want to. Check that your camera or webcam is functioning properly by selecting Settings from the three-dot menu and then Audio & Videos. In the Camera section, choose Default device. You can test your camera's functionality from this option.

After selecting the person you want to call, click on the camera icon on the top right side to start a video call.

Skype's new feature: Meet Now

To compete with other communication services, especially Zoom, Microsoft is adding new features to Skype. This feature called Meet Now allows you to have video conversations and meetings without the need to create an account or download an application on a PC. The number of participants reached 50 people.

To start a Meet Now session, you just need to go to the Chats or Calls page at the top left and click the Meet Now button. Then, you will have the option to share the invitation to Skype contacts, to email (Outlook and Gmail), or by sending a link.

Other Meet Now participants don't need to have a Skype account or download the app. You can use the Chromium-based Edge browser or Google Chrome to open the link and join the Meet Now session.
